Does your work cover visual art and mental health in schools? Or have you evaluated a school-based art intervention? The Create for Confidence Team want to hear from you!
The review
We are carrying out a systematic review around the effectiveness of art interventions in schools to support young people’s mental health. We are bringing together academic research and work from organisations outside of academia to provide a more complete picture of the fantastic work happening in the area.
We are contacting people and organisations potentially involved in art and mental health work in schools to request relevant research that can be included in our review.
How you can help
- Share any evaluations/research on any visual art interventions run in schools to support young people’s mental health or wellbeing
We are interested in any research you have on visual art interventions delivered in schools that include mental health or wellbeing measurements before and after the intervention.
This work can be focused on prevention or intervention/treatment of any mental health issue or mental wellbeing. We are interested in group-level changes (we do not require data or information on individuals) with any intervention that uses the visual arts (e.g. painting, drawing, crafting, sculpting, photography, textiles).
We can use research in any format (group data, reports, documents, webpages etc).
- Let us know of any relevant organisations we should contact
We are trying to make this a comprehensive review of all work in the area so please let us know any organisations working in this area we should be talking to!
- Share our request with your networks and help us reach as many people and organisations as possible.
By providing this information, you will be helping important research into how art interventions can improve young people’s mental health.
